fabrizio and marco d arcangelo share their love for synth generated music. fond of electronic music since the british new wave invasion of the 80s, the two brothers were keen on embarking onto early experimental music through the aid of affordable samplers and pcs. in the early 90s they joined dj max durante in the asu project on hot trax, a hard techno venture which saw the release of three eps, culminating in their live act at the zurich energy 93. in the following years, two deliberately distinct projects were born, centuria city and automia division, dividing the techno and melodic edges

the members of my my met and became friends through common interests in music, but it wasnt until they ended up as neighbours in berlins mitte, that a lifestyle of committed partying, cake baking and long studio sessions lead to their debut release on playhouse >klatta< in early 2005. it was the result of previously downtempo producer lee jones (hefner) working and partying with local berlin djs nick höppner and carsten kleeman, who are residents respectively at panorama bar and watergate. following up their recent fantastic 12inch on circus company butterflies & zebras is beautifully tripped-out expansive ambient house, summer after-hours here we come! recorded live with nick and lee layering fx over the organic percussion as the mix develops. an acid infused bassline is slowly opened out as layers of lush strings and shimmering pads are teased into the arrangement. on moneybowl the boys show the more jacking side of my my. taught and lean with a groove that keeps on evolving, while weird and wonderful bleeps and clicks bounce around the mix. for the remix, john dahlbäck twists the pads from the original and adds his own synth stabs. then pulls out a bassline and arrangement that jumps straight onto the dancefloor

at the time of its original release in 1993, detroit techno producer carl craig was known mostly to a small circle of collectors in europe. his early releases on transmat and fragile had become cult classics on the techno underground. these were followed by a series of stunning releases on his co-owned retroactive label. 1993 saw carl launch his planet e label and he released an ep by 69 followed by an ep of material by art owner kirk degiorgio (future/past) and ed handley of the black dog (balil). it return it was agreed carl would record an ep for art - which became art 3. the new recordings included a dance floor stomper - >chicken noodle soup< and typically moody down-tempo grower >how the west was won< and an ambient end-piece >sleep<...

the londoner billy nasty occasionally describes himself in jest as being the >dennis hopper of techno<…. as early as this january, the first collaboration between nasty and gregor tresher, the >black sorcery ep< was released on the electrix label, which is set to be followed up on datapunk with the >imperfection ep<. the ep opens with >iconic warfare< a high energy fusion of classic techno with the kind of saw tooth attack so typical of tresher s productions, and with his incantation of medial sound-warfare, nasty s vocoder voice provides a highgrade identity inducing message on the dance floor. the title song of the ep, >imperfection<, further refines this formula again in a 4:4 tempo with melancholy strings to a hedonistic anthem…

sleepy hollow was obviously inspired by the movie of the same name. it is one of my favourite pictures by tim burton and i really like the dark, creepy atmosphere of it. the bass-line recreates this mood to an extent that it scares me, makes me shiver. i mean, really! regenerate has such a strong techhouse vibe to it, again reminiscent of the early 90s and a very strong groove. excellent percussion programming and modulation by stephan. this one builds and builds until it completely gets you. personally i think all due respect is the most laidback, reduced track on the album. we came up with this distinctive, monotone melody/bass and i loved the feeling right away. definetely the kind of music that i like to play on a sunday after hour session
